Profile

Limei Xu is a Boya Distinguished Professor of School of Physics at Peking University and serves as the vice dean of School of Physics, Peking University. She earned a bachelor's degree from Beijing Normal University in 1996, and a PhD from Boston University in 2007. She performed postdoctoral research at the University of Utah's Chemistry Department from 2007 to 2008. From 2008 to 2011, she worked as an assistant professor at Tohoku University. She held the positions of Associate Professor, ICQM & School of Physics, Peking University from 2011 to 2015, and became a tenured Associate Professor in 2015. Since 2017, she has held the position of a Boya Distinguished Professor of School of Physics at Peking University. She has long been engaged in the research of equilibrium and non-equilibrium statistical physics and soft condensed matter physics, especially the research of phase transition and critical phenomena of complex systems, and the characteristics of water. She has published many papers in related fields, including Nature, Nature sub-journals, PNAS, PRL, etc., and was invited to write a review article in Chemical Reviews. Part of the work was selected as top ten advances in China's science and technology in 2018, and awarded the first prize of the Natural Science Award for Outstanding Scientific Research Achievements in Higher Educational Institutions by the Ministry of Education in 2019. She has been invited to give conferences and thematic reports at international conferences for many times. She serves as a member of the editorial board for several reputable journals, including Chinese Physics Letters (CPL), Science China-Physics, Mechanics & Astronomy (SPPMA), Europhysics Letters (EPL), and Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter (JPCM). She was a winner of 1000 Young Scientist Award (Recruitment Program for Global Experts of China) in 2011 and Awardee of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2015.
