The course begins with a review of second quantization, goes through field theories at zero and finite temperatures, linear response theory, field theory of electron-phonon coupled systems and microscopic theories of superconductivity and its electromagnetic properties. Through this course, students get familiar with Green's function methods of quantum many-particle systems, and learn basics of electromagnetic and thermodynamic properties of superconductivity and metals.
