Magmatism is a fundamental feature of plate boundaries and an essential process controlling the geochemical evolution of the planet. Nevertheless, the actual dynamics of melting and melt transport are often neglected in large scale models of mantle convection and lithospheric deformation. One focus of our group is to study the magma segregation in the porous rocks as well as corresponding geochemical signatures.
Magma ocean/pond is an important stage after planet accretion and its evolution includes multiphysical processes with complex coupling, especially the crystallization in the liquid magma. Another aim of our group is to understanding the dynamics of such system and its effect on the evolution of planets.
