Prof. C.-P. Yuan’s Lecture on ‘Electroweak and QCD Theory’
(July 8-11, 2013, Peking University )
Day 1: How to construct a theoretical model to explain the experimental data.
Example: From SLAC-MIT experimental data to the birth of naive parton model.
Day 2: How to complete a consistent model with symmetry principles.
Example: Construct QCD theory (from an SU(3) non-abelian local gauge symmetry)
and the QCD improved parton model.
Day 3: How to test a theoretical model against experimental data.
Example: Check predictions of QCD improved parton model via global analysis of
Deep-inelastic scattering (DIS), Drell-Yan pair, and jet data
at various lepton-hadron and hadron-hadron colliders.
Day 4: I will also extend the above methodology to discussing the phenomenology of electroweak interactions.
